From The Highpointers Convention - July 26-28, 2001 - Backbone Mountain,
Maryland
Pictured Clockwise from Above Left:
1) "The Welcome Gazebo" in downtown Oakland,
Maryland. These folks greeted the visitors all week. Seated
are Joe and Mary Howard from Maryland. Standing are Bill and Lee
Strickland from Oklahoma.
2) No gathering was complete without a song
from this lovely trio of grandaughters of the Elliotts.
3) Highpointers were always singing.
Strangely in the words provided in a sheet by the Elliotts the Maryland
state song has references to Backbone Mountain. From left are Lillian
and Gene Elliott, Mary and Joe Howard, and the Mayor of Oakland.
4) Jean Trousdale was hard at work selling
Highpointer goods at the HP Merc. Jean and the Stricklands will be
hosting the 2002 Convention at Black Mesa, Oklahoma.
5) A Maryland Public TV camera crew was
on hand for the entire convention. Here they are interviewing the
Elliotts on the Backbone summit.
6) No photo album would be complete with
a photo of the Chairman/Webmaster Roger Rowlett and the hosts Lillian and
Gene Elliott.
